While working on the User Centered Design team at Northwestern Mutual from 2001-2005, I designed and developed user interface design solutions for the enterprise. Working directly with clients, application analysts, engineers and end users, I ensured that the interfaces created were usable, viable within the technical environment and met the stated business objectives.
The web based software I developed at Northwester Mutual focused on transactional and financial web based applications. The User Centered Design process being the core approach, philosophy and design strategy. Prototypes and wireframes were also used to gather requirements when modeling business processes and workflows.
Notable accomplishments while at Northwestern Mutual:
- Redesigned the corporate Intranet, awarded Norman Neilson's Top 10 Usable Intranets of 2002
- Represented the User Centered Design Team in the Engineering Competency Center.
- Provided strategic direction for the User Interface Design view point in the Solution Delivery Process.
- Designed and deployed user interfaces replacing paper processing core to Northwestern's business with no loss of service.
